PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS
Policy Centric Economics
Jonathan is an applied microeconomist with a focus on public sector economics. He supplements his teaching and research activities with freelance legal and economic consulting. His current research centers on determinants of crime and better understanding institutional bias and discrimination. Other research interests include the labor market effects of incarceration, secondary market effects of marijuana legalization, and the interplay of local crime with education and housing policy. The principal premise of Jonathan's research in criminal justice is that criminal misconduct is best understood as an individually rational response to legal institutions, social conditioning, and economic realities.
